Just a Monday morning ramble

Well I'm booked for Nova Scotia and I'm super excited. I'll be flying with my mom so that will be nice to have her help with Makayla. I can't wait to see my grandparents. It has been 4 years since I have seen them and 6 years since my last trip to Nova Scotia. I am also happy they will get to meet their first great grandchild. Makayla has made us a 5 generation family again! Yay!

As I've said previously, Makayla has been pulling herself up to standing for awhile now. Well on Saturday she stood up for the first time by putting her hands against the wall. Yikes! That seems crazy early to me! I'm not sure if this is normal or not??? But it sure is freaking me out. My daughter needs to stop growing up so quickly.

Thursday was Makayla's appointment with the Plastic Surgeon. We had an x-ray done of her finger and all looks as expected. I signed the needed paperwork and now we are on the waitlist for a surgery date. There is about a 3 month wait, which is actually perfect since they don't like to do it sooner due to the anethestics that are used.

We are going to have a busdy week. Tuesday Makayla has her shots (ugh), Thursday we have an appointment to get Nexus, Dave's sister and brother-in-law are coming Thursday for the long weekend, and next Tuesday is Makayla's appointment with the Eye Specialist for her clogged tear duct.

Well I better run. I gotta get some stuff done while Makayla naps.

One more thing though, Makayla fell asleep for her morning nap in less than 2 minutes and she didn't utter a peep!!!! This is such an amazing improvment for her. I've struggled with her in the sleeping department since day 1.

K bye!

7 months old

(started July 20)

Dear Makayla,

Today you are 7 months old. Time is flying by so fast it is ridiculous! I must admit I am a bit in shock you are 7 months. I didn't really think past the first 6 months and now you are closer to being 1 than a newborn.

You weigh 13lbs 13oz and are 25 inches long. Yes, you still wear 0-3 month clothing and I bet you will until the end of summer.

This last month has been a big month for you. At 6 months you started trying to crawl. You started out by scooting and at 6.5 months you began full on crawling. You are very good at it now and can go across the entire room to mommy or whatever it is you want. For now you still just crawl to what you can see. Soon I'm sure you will figure out you can crawl places out of sight to explore and find mommy when she is in a different room. Once that happens I'm really in trouble.

A couple weeks ago you also started pulling yourself to standing as well. You are a champ at this now and can pull yourself up onto just about anything. You are still learning how to get down though and I sometimes find you hollering, holding on for dear life because you are scared and can't sit back down.

You learned how to put yourself into a sit position.

You went in a park swing and a kiddy pool for the first time this month.

You started on solids and have so far had (in this order) rice cereal, squash, avacado, peas, green beans, carrots, oat cereal, sweet potatoes, Cheerios, pears, and wax beans. You are a big fan of the beans and cereals and don't like avacado or pears.

You get so excited to see daddy when he comes home from work. It is the cutest thing ever!!! This just started in the past few weeks.

Now that you are mobile you are a much happier and content baby! However you need to learn what sleeping is again!!! You've become too active for your own good and wake up ready to go at all hours!

Mommy is very proud of you.

xoxo

Dear Teeth,

I have seen you hiding for 2 weeks now. Please come out so my baby will stop being in pain.

My funny girl

Makayla finds flapping sheets the funniest thing in the world! Seriously! Yesterday evening I was folding sheets and I shook a sheet to even it out. Well Makayla just burst into laughter and she wouldn't stop. This wasn't just giggling. It was full out belly laughter. It lasted a good 10 minutes. Everytime I flapped the sheet she cracked up. I was cracking up too. It was just way too adorable.

On Monday Makayla stuck out her tongue and went bbbleh for the first time. Then I did it and we played a game of copycat. Now whenever I do it her she'll do it back. I'm sure one day it'll be annoying but for now it is cute.

This is what I see when I go in to get Makayla in the morning...

or sometimes I see this...

She is definitely getting really good at pulling herself up. She'll do it on pretty much anything she can. The little daredevil is starting to only hold on with one hand too.

Fun in the Sun

Despite only getting 4 hours sleep the night before last (I was up from 3am on basically) I had a very enjoyable day.

I was just so exhausted yesterday I knew I couldn't stay at home with a tired, teething, cranky baby and not go crazy. So around 8:30 we headed out for a walk. We met Talise and Olivia at Douglas Park, went for a 45 min walk, then they left and I stayed with Makayla at the park playing on the grass for awhile longer. We were home by 11am and Makayla went down for a nap.

In the afternoon we met up with some friends at Cloverdale waterpark. Makayla had alot of fun just crawling around on the blanket and grass. I was also able to get a chance to visit. It was lovely. A perfect day, sunny but not too hot.

A funny and gross thing happened at the park too. I'll tell that story another time though.

Anyway I really enjoyed yesterday and last night Makayla slept a straight 10 hours without waking up, then went down for another 2. Woohoo! I am one happy mommy toady.

Sleepless Nights

It's 11:15 and I've already been up with Makaya twice. It's gonna be a long night. :(

Oh how I miss the nights of sleep. I've had way too many sleepless nights this past week. What is going on with my baby girl? I only wish I knew. She has gone through so many changes recently it could be any of them. Growth spurt, teething, reaching milestones such as crawling and pulling up. She moves so much in her sleep now and she never used to. I think it wakes her. Plus the second she wakes she flips onto her tummy and she hates sleeping on her tummy so she starts crying. I've gone in there so much to flip her on her back only to have to do it again 2 minutes later. She had a runny nose and still has a slight cough so it could be that. Ug I just don't know. I really hope she goes back to sleeping through the night soon. This mommy is exhausted.

Oh and top of all that she has decided to start getting up for the day at 6:15am instead of 7:30am. She isn't napping much during the day either no matter how hard I try. She gets up after like 30-45min. Ug.

Crawling!!!

As of last night Makaylas has officially started crawling. We were at Debbie's and she crawled from me to her toys about 4ft away, then back to me. She did it again this morning. It's unbelievable how fast time has flown, and how much my little girl is growing up!

4 years. It feels like just yesterday. Miss you Miriam.

Makayla's first time in the kiddy pool

Makayla went splashing in her kiddy pool for the first time on Wednesday. She had a blast!

Warning: Picture overload, I couldn't decide...

Makayla put herself into a sitting positon for the first time today. She was on her tummy and pushed herself up to sitting.

Today she also picked up a cheerio and stuck it in her mouth with a pincher grasp (pointer finger and thumb) for the first time too.

I can't believe how quickly she is changing and developing. This past month have held alot of firsts

We're at the Pediatrician right now and Makayla keeps pulling herself up to standing on the Mega Blocks container! My baby girl is growing up so fast.

Learning to Crawl

Makayla has been learning to crawl since about 6 months now. She can take a few steps on her hands and knees, but she isn't that great at it yet. Often to get around she will go up on her hands and feet. She will walk her feet forward until she is an upside down V and then she will push her body forward and repeat.

Anyday now she will be all out crawling. Time to get the house babyproofed!

Swing Adventures

Makayla and I went for a nice early walk this morning. On the way home we stopped at a little park by our house and Makayla went in a park swing for the first time.

She's old enough for the swing, but is she big enough? teehee

Happy 143rd Birthday Canada!

We took Makayla for a walk down the street to the celebrations for her first Canada Day. We just wandered around and grabbed a bite to eat. We didn't stay long as it started sprinkling and we didn't wanna get caught in the rain.

Later that evening we heading on over to Jon's dad's for prime rib roast done on the BBQ!

All in all it was a enjoyable and relaxing Canada Day.

Makayla eating peas

Makayla likes peas alot. Green beans and rice cereal are definitely her favorite though. She doesn't like avacodo and all orange vegies she eats but isn't crazy over.

1st BBQ of the year

We had our 1st BBQ of the year last night! It was delicious. I'm sooooo happy construction on our condo is finally done so we can enjoy many more BBQ dinners this summer.
