Makayla sitting up!

Makayla is getting pretty good at sitting up unassisted now. She still topples over when she loses interest in sitting so I have to keep a close eye on her.

On Thursday Makayla also started stepping backwards when standing. If I hold her arms she looks down at her feet and takes steps backwards. She hasn't quite figured out how to go forward yet.

She is also trying desperately hard to get her legs under her to crawl. No luck yet. Instead she just gets frustrated when on her tummy.

Makayla giggling

We caught Makayla giggling on camera for the first time today! She was just in fits of laughter! It was too cute! I just love the birdy mouth at the end.

Our 2 year anniversary!!!

Dave and I have been married 2 years today! I can't believe how fast time flies. It feels like just yesterday we were all dressed up saying our vows. It has been an awesome 2 years with lots of good times with each other, friends, family, weekend getaways, and of course the best part of all the arrival of our daughter Makayla. We're looking forward to many more years to come!

My First Mother's Day

(mommy & Makayla)
(3 generations. My first Mday and mom's first Mday as a Grandma!)

The day started out wonderfully with a card from daddy and Makayla. Daddy walked in to the room holding Makayla and she was holding a card for me! It was just the CUTEST thing ever! Dave even stuck a pen in Makayla's hand and pressed the card to it so when she moved her hand she left her 'mark'.

We then went to church to have Makayla dedicated. (See below for dedication post) After church we went out for lunch with both sets if parents to Poseidon a delicious Greek restaurant.

(The 3 important dads in my life <3 )

I had a fabulous first Mother's Day. It was perfect!

Makayla's Dedication

Makayla was dedicated this past Sunday on Mother's Day. My dad was in town for only one Sunday and we wanted to do it when he was here.

Bro. Tom dedicated Makayla. It seemed only fitting as he counseled us when we first started dating at 16, and he married us.

It was a beautiful, short dedication. Makayla behaved wonderfully! I was so nervous as she only had a quick cat nap for about 10 minutes since waking up over 3 hours earlier. She was totally in awe of Bro Tom and kept patting his face while he was holding her during prayer.

Giggling

Last Thursday Makayla giggled for the first time. She was lying on the change table and I was blowing on her tummy when the most wonderful sound erupted from her! She giggled 3 times in a row. I've been waiting for her to giggle for a couple months now as she is 4.5 months old and many babies younger than her have already started. It was so amazing and brought tears to my eyes.

Makayla has also recently discovered her head! Since than she has been resting one or both her hands on it and or patting it.

She is very good at rolling now and often rolls across the room. It is funny because she only rolls one direction so she just keeps on going until she can't roll anymore.

When Makayla has tummy time she tries really hard to get her bum in the air or her legs under her. Next comes crawling!

Previous Dish of the Week: Week 3 & 4

Week 3: Rice Tamale Dish

Mmmm! We thought this dish was delicious! A very tasty Mexican recipe. Dave thinks it would be a good filling for a burrito, topping for a salad etc. Yum! It will definitely be made again. Rated 9.5/10

Week 4: Chicken Ceasar Salad

Ok, I'm not going to lie, this week was a little bit of a cheat! haha. I have most definitely made Ceasar salad before, BUT I've never made croutons before. This has homemade ceasar salad dressing that I have been eating since I was a kid and whole wheat croutons. The croutons didn't work out well since I was in a hurry so I will have to give this meal a 7/10

Note: I'm working on getting the recipes up for all the dishes I have posted. They will be posted to the "Dish of the Week" page. See link at the side.

Construction...ug

I am having a very hard time dealing with the construction going on at our condo right now.

Yesterday was terrible as they were just outside and above our place. Makayla never got to sleep for more than like 20 minutes as they always woke her up. She was fussy all day through no fault of her own.

It seems to be the same today except even worse! A big machine is on the roof to 'flatten' the tar which sounds like an EXTREMELY EXTREMELY LOUD vacuum. They are also hammering and banging right outside our windows.

At the moment I have her sleeping in our bathroom, ya that's right our bathroom with the fan on and a white noise machine. We'll see if that lasts.

I don't think I can handle this anymore. I had a melt down this morning. Makayla won't sleep and she'll barely nurse. She won't play on her own, and she is a total crank.

I don't want to go to someone's place all day as I desperately need to clean my house since I have family coming. Although with the way things are I am getting nothing done.

I have been fighting the urge all day yesterday and now today to run outside and tell everyone to "shut up and be quiet right now!!!" Hahaha.

Ahhhhh! I want to scream!

New iPhone app: iCarc

iCarc: The Carcassonne Companion
created by Andrew Hoyer

Have you ever heard of the board game Carcassonne? If not I'll tell you now, it is an awesome game that will provide many hours of entertainment. Those who have played it will agree.

Now you can get the iCarc app! Which in my opinion indeed does seem to be the perfect companion to the board game. This app will keep track of what type and amount of tiles are left. No more guessing if the tile you want *might* still be in the bag. What a great way to up your chances of winning the game or letting your friends know the status of the game.

This great new app just hit the iPhone app store today. If you already own the game go buy it NOW. If not buy the app anyway then go buy yourself the board game. You won't be disappointed!

Congrats Andrew on your first iPhone app!
